The Bible

The Bible is the true and inspired Word of God. It was written by more than 40 authors over a period of 1600 years. The Bible is available in different translations. The most widely used and respected is called the King James Bible, ordered and authorized by King James of England in 1611. It might be difficult for some to understand the old English language, but it just takes time to get used to it.

There is an internal consistency within the Bible's 66 books, even though they were written over a period of about 1600 years by more than 40 persons, most of whom had never met one another. Living in different historical eras and widely differing regions and cultures, the only thing these writers of Scripture had in common was the claim that what they wrote was inspired by the one true God. The intricate pattern of truth woven without contradiction throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation bears powerful witness to the validity of that claim, which can be explained in no other manner.

The Bible is about 30 percent prophecy, and for this reason alone it is absolutely unique. There are no prophecies in the Koran, in the Hindu Vedas or the Bhagavad-Gita, in the sayings of Buddha and Confucius, in the Book of Mormon, or anywhere except in the Bible. Nor are there any prophecies concerning the coming of Buddha, Krishna, Mohammed, Zoroaster, Confucius, or the founder or leader of any other of the world's religions. The Jewish Messiah is absolutely unique in this respect. His coming was foretold in dozens of specific prophecies which were fulfilled in minutest detail in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
